Security Considerations in Document Automation
Trust is your firm’s most valuable asset.
Clients depend on you to protect their information—and to get every detail right. In today’s digital world, both security and accuracy are essential to maintaining that trust.
This series explores how smarter document automation can help you safeguard client confidence, reduce risk, and deliver better results—without compromise.
Compliance Made Simple—Local Storage
Global Standards
Data privacy laws are evolving fast, and one thing is clear: where your client information is stored—and who can access it—matters more than ever.
- Canada’s PIPEDA forbids storing clients’ personal data outside Canada.
- The EU’s GDPR requires you to know and control exactly where client data lives, with strict rules on access, retention, and deletion.
- California’s CCPA demands that you be able to locate, disclose, and delete client data upon request, no matter where it’s stored.
Many cloud-based solutions store your data wherever is cheapest or most convenient for them. That means your client information could be sitting in a data center on another continent, subject to foreign laws, government subpoenas, or even unknown service providers.
Offline automation eliminates compliance headaches
You decide where data is stored, backed up, and archived. Your files remain in your office or secure server—never in a foreign jurisdiction. You control access and retention, making regulatory response simple and fast.
